    MikroTik provisioning guide

One command. Every step in view.

Move from router discovery to a reviewed configuration with clear progress and a recovery path. This guide explains what to prepare, what CENTRANET automates and how to verify the result.

    01

Prepare your router and test connection

Use RouterOS 7.20 or newer and confirm the router can reach the internet over HTTPS. Keep working management access and decide which customer connections are in scope. Start on a designated test device before changing production traffic.

    • RouterOS 7.20+ and internet access
    • A protected management connection
    • An agreed customer-service test scope

    02

    Generate and install the command

In Router fleet, link the router and choose Automatic setup or Monitor existing setup. Review the retention choices, generate the enrollment command and paste it into MikroTik Terminal. The agent connects outbound to CENTRANET; standard enrollment does not require opening public router management ports.

The command is specific to that registration. Deleting a registration does not factory-reset the physical router or remove its previous configuration. Generate a fresh command when onboarding a new registration.

    03

Review discovered ports and retained settings

Automatic setup reads current device configuration. Clear customer ports can serve both Hotspot and PPPoE. Internet and management connections are protected. Ambiguous assignments or existing configuration dependencies pause for review.

Retaining customer accounts also protects the profiles and pools those accounts use. A clean customer setup is not a factory reset: the selected categories are replaced within the reviewed plan, while retained accounts and protected connections remain.

    • Confirm the WAN connection
    • Protect the physical management port
    • Choose Hotspot, PPPoE or both
    • Review retained account dependencies

    04

Back up, configure and install the portal

After approval, the router creates its recovery backup before changes. The agent applies bounded groups of configuration steps and reports acknowledgements. Hotspot files are installed and checked against the approved bytes.

Follow the setup view rather than assuming a completed terminal import means subscriber service is ready. Waiting, recovery and verification states show where the process has reached.

    05

    Verify a real subscriber journey

A provisioned configuration means the approved settings passed readback checks. It does not replace a real customer test. Connect through a customer port, authenticate a test Hotspot or PPPoE account, and confirm DNS and internet browsing.

For paid access, verify provider configuration, make an agreed test transaction, check the payment record and the router’s account-installation acknowledgement, then test browsing. Test expiry, suspension and reconnection separately.

    Understand payment and messaging integrations

    06

    Keep recovery understandable

If setup pauses, inspect the reported resource and latest device activity. “Check repaired step and continue” performs a read-only check against the approved setting; it is not a general retry button.

Preserve the backup and management access. Use the supported recovery action or discuss the failure before resetting a router that serves customers. Configuration drift may require a new review.

Get help with a paused setup

    Good questions. Clear answers.

    Let’s clear
    a few things up.

A little clarity goes a long way.

    Ask us something else
Will deleting a router reset it?

No. Removing the platform registration and resetting the physical MikroTik are separate actions. Existing device settings may still be present when you enroll it again.

Can Hotspot and PPPoE share customer ports?

Yes. The assignment view supports both services on a customer port. Protected internet and management ports stay outside customer-service assignment.

    How long does setup take?

Duration depends on device speed, internet connection, portal size, existing configuration and review steps. Local batch execution reduces round trips, but a universal completion time is not guaranteed.
