How to Connect a MikroTik Router to Centranet
Centranet manages MikroTik routers over an outbound secure tunnel. You never open ports on the router. Every change is checked on the router and can be rolled back.
Check the router
Use a MikroTik on RouterOS 7 with internet access on its WAN port. Update it to a current stable version if you can. Note which port connects to the internet and which ports serve customers.
Add the router
Routers → Add router. Give it a name and the site it serves. Centranet creates a one-time install command.
Paste the command
Open the MikroTik terminal in Winbox or WebFig, paste the command and press Enter. The router downloads its agent, creates the secure tunnel and checks in. This takes about 30 seconds.
Review the ports
Centranet reads the router’s interfaces and suggests which port is the internet (WAN) and which serve customers. Confirm or adjust the choice. Nothing changes on the router until you approve.
Apply and verify
Centranet applies the Hotspot, PPPoE and firewall setup in small steps and reads each one back from the router. If a step fails, it stops and restores the previous configuration.
- Hotspot login page and walled garden for payments
- PPPoE server and speed profiles
- Management access restricted to the tunnel
Confirm it is online
The router shows Online in Routers and Network status. Remote Winbox opens automatically on a dedicated public port. See Remote Winbox and monitoring.
Good questions. Clear answers.
Let’s clear
a few things up.
A little clarity goes a long way.
Ask us something elseDoes Centranet use RADIUS?
No. Centranet manages users directly on the MikroTik through the secure tunnel. There is no RADIUS server to host.
What if my router already has customers?
Use the migration tools. Centranet can connect in monitor-only mode, read existing PPPoE secrets and Hotspot users, and only take over billing when you choose.
Which models work?
Any MikroTik on RouterOS 7, from hAP and RB951 models to CCR and CHR.
